9 May Europe Day 2020 in Jordan

Today, we commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration - a powerful statement made by the French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman who called for the pooling of resources among European states that would lead to economic cooperation, better standards of living and, thereupon, peace in Europe. The Shuman Declaration paved the way for what is today the European Union. On 9 May every year we celebrate peace, solidarity and unity with Europe Day.

Although the current circumstances caused by the COVID-19 leaves no room for social gatherings, the EU in Jordan will still be marking this important occasion in full support of and solidarity with our fellow EU citizens at home and abroad, and with our Jordanian hosts.

Celebrating Europe Day with a one-hour Live Stream event

9 Artists living all across the European Union, from the Baltic to the Mediterranean, from Brussels to Vienna will live stream from their living rooms to gather for an artistic celebration of 1 hour Live Stream event! Followed by official statements from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and EU High Representative /Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell.
