Celebrating 33 outstanding Kenyan students embarking on their Erasmus+ journey in Europe

33 Kenyans are set to begin their life changing journey via the fully funded Erasmus Plus joint Master Degree programme.

On Thursday 2 July, the European Union Ambassador held a reception in honour of 33 exceptional Kenyan students who will soon embark on their Erasmus Plus academic journey, that will see them study in various European countries, including Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Hungary, the Netherlands, Portugal, Turkey, Serbia and the United Kingdom.

Present at the event was Kenya's Permanent Secretary for Science and Innovation, Prof. Abdirazak Shaukat, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education Dr Beatrice Iyangala, as well as Ambassadors of the European Union Member States, Belgium and Germany, and representatives from other Member States. 

Prof Shaukat, who told the gathering that he was also a beneficiary of a higher education exchange programme, noted, "Through education and innovation we take the country forward. This is not brain drain, but brain gain, and we look forward to your contribution upon return. My own experience makes me encourage you in the adventure that is beginning with Erasmus." What an inspiration!

Dr Beatrice Iyangala, Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, thanked the European Union for the continued partnership in this programme . She noted: “I thank the European Union for its continued commitment to advancing higher education, research and youth empowerment in Kenya. Congratulations once again to all the awardees. We are proud of you and wish you every success on this transformative journey.”
