Celebrating 50 Years of Partnership: Europe Day in Nairobi
The Delegation to Kenya observed Europe Day on 14th May, following the Africa Forward Summit (11–12 May 2026), led by France.
The EU's diplomatic presence in Kenya began in 1976, and this milestone anniversary was celebrated with a high-profile reception that was well attended, including the Chief Guest, PS Korir Sing'Oei, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Other guests included senior representatives from the Government of Kenya, EU Member States Ambassadors and other representatives from the diplomatic corps, the private sector, civil society, cultural institutes, and media.

In his remarks, Dr Korir Sing’Oei highlighted the shared values between Kenya and the EU, commending the EU’s global contributions to peace and stability.
In her remarks, European Union Ambassador to Kenya H.E Henriette Geiger noted that in a world in turmoil it is essential to build strong alliances and reliable partnerships, based on mutual interest and respect.
The evening also showcased the cultural and creative impact of EU-Kenya cooperation, featuring sustainable fashion from the Kibera Fashion Week.

The guests also appreciated a spectacular drone show and dazzling fireworks display by Jayz Pyrotechnics.
This year's Europe Day was not just a celebration of diplomacy — it was a testament to five decades of collaboration, innovation, and shared progress.
