EU supports global action on cyber crime
This forum is hosted by the Kenyan government and co-organised by the European Union and the Council of Europe. It is part of the EU funded GLACY-e project on Global Action on Cybercrime.
The Forum will address the growing threat of cyber-enabled criminal activities. With digital infrastructure and sensitive data increasingly targeted, advancements in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies have enabled cybercriminals to expand the scale and sophistication of their operations.
This meeting comes at a crucial time, as we mark the start of the 16 days of activism against Gender based violence. This year’s theme, “end digital violence against women and girls” addresses cybercrime as part of the digital and technology-facilitated violence, which disproportionately affects women in public life – such as journalists, politicians and activists, as well as young women and girls.
Online fraud schemes and other forms of cybercrimes have become the fastest-growing segment of organised crime, affecting individuals and organisations across both public and private sectors, and creating global concerns.
At the Forum, participants will share expertise in implementing advanced technical countermeasures and detection systems. These solutions are designed to identify deepfakes, trace synthetic content, detect unusual behaviour, and enhance due diligence within the financial sector, contributing to a more secure digital environment.
