Raising the Social Protection Floor in Kenya
All around the world, including in Kenya, Governments have strengthened their social protection support in response to COVID-19. Today we discussed why social protection works and how we can make more shock responsive systems in any future crisis.
The conference was organised through our €5 million project ‘COVID-19 Cash Safety-Nets “Nyavu za Afya na Usalama” for vulnerable Nairobi informal settlement residents. With a target of reaching 20,000 households, the project is already having a real impact for families.
Thanks to our partners Oxfam Kenya, Kenya Red Cross Society, Concern Worldwide, Acted, CREAW Kenya, Wangu Kanja Foundation and Impact Initiatives. We also thank CS Simon Chelugui and the Ministry of Labour and Social protection for their support and participation.
