Team Europe visit to Dedan Kimathi University of Technology

The EU Delegation, accompanied by representatives of France, Germany and Hungary visited the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology in Nyeri County and shared information on available collaboration opportunities in Higher Education and Research.
 

Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKuT) in Nyeri is a relatively young institution, having received its Charter in 2012. Within this short time, it has established linkages  with several institutions in the European Union, and is a recipient of several Erasmus + Exchange programmes.

During the visit, the Team Europe Delegation visiting shared a number of opportunities for collaboration with the institution, under the EU's Erasmus Plus programme and under the Member States bilateral programmes.

The Vice Chancellor of the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Prof Peter Muchiri, himself an Alumnus of the Belgian goverment scholarship under VLIR, warmly welcomed the team, and demonstrated how the university is producing both academics and entrepreneurs.

The university has an established science and technology park, with a capacity to host 450 manufacturing companies. They are also producing innovative products, like their patented Coffee Yoghurt.

International Credit Mobility (ICM) Call for Proposals- Closes: 20 February 2024

ICM offers student and staff mobility between EU MS or associated countries and non-associated third countries. A study period or traineeship abroad must be part of a student's study programme to complete a degree. Higher education institutions established in a EU Member State or country associated to the programme can apply to the National Agency of the EU Member state or associated country in which the applicant organisation is based.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) - Closes 15 February 2024

Offers high-quality international integrated master degree programmes with EU-funded scholarships to attract the brightest students. Any higher education institution may submit an application on behalf of the consortium that delivers the EMJM. One can apply to the European Commission’s Funding & Tender Opportunities portal.

Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) - Closes 15 February 2024

This project contributes to the costs of collaboration activities to design and set up joint programmes. Any higher education institution may submit an application on behalf of the partnership.

Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) - Closes 08 February 2024

Offers support to modernise and reform higher education institutions and systems in the eligible countries worldwide. Higher education institutions, associations, an organisation of HEIs, national/international rector, teacher or student organisations can apply on behalf of the consortium.

Jean Monnet Actions (JMA)- Closes 1 February 2024

Offers excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies worldwide, at higher education level. Higher education institutions, organisations and associations around the world are eligible to apply for Jean Monnet actions.

Capacity Building in VET (CBVET) - Closes 29 February 2024

Offers support the relevance, accessibility, and responsiveness of VET institutions and systems. Any public and private organisation active in the VET field and legally established in an EU MS or associated country.
