Ambassador Anne Koistinen: "On behalf of the European Union Delegation to the State of Kuwait, I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah after he was sworn in today as the Emir of the State of  Kuwait. 

The EU and the State of Kuwait enjoy a long relationship, which is built on a strong partnership. The EU considers Kuwait as a close and reliable friend and ally. We look forward to strengthening the strategic partnership between the EU and Kuwait under His Highness Sheikh Mishal’s wise leadership.

His Highness Sheikh Mishal has helped to strengthen those bonds of friendship through his engagement and commitment including his meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell last year during his visit to Kuwait.

I would like to conclude by offering His Highness the Emir once again our sincere congratulations and wish him and the people of Kuwait prosperity, peace and security for many years to come."
