EU announced the first-ever European Film Festival in Laos and its 8th European Food Festival
Vientiane, 19 Nov.: The Delegation of the European Union to the Lao PDR, together with Embassies of European Member States, announced the first European Film Festival in Laos to be held in Vientiane from 26-30 November. Speaking at a press conference, the EU Ambassador to Laos, Mr Leo Faber said it will be one of this year's flagship cultural events in Laos.
This first edition will present a dozen European movies, reflecting the diversity of perspectives, histories and cultures from across Europe, while promoting cultural cooperation between Europe and Laos. During the week, Europeans will bring to the Lao audience a wide selection of award-winning films from the Festival circuit, never-before-seen in the Lao capital city. The event will be free of charge.
The Film Festival will kick off on 26 November at the European Union Delegation, followed by screenings respectively at the Institut Francais from 27-28 November, at the UK embassy on 28 November, and from 29-30 November at the iconic Mekong River Front of Chao Anouvong Park.
In combination with the Film Festival, the 8th Edition of the European Food Festival will take place on 29 & 30 November at the Mekong River Front. The event will start at 11a.m. and go on until 10 p.m. A dozen of restaurateurs hailing from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Russia will be joining the festivities and the Lao audience will have a chance to enjoy a journey through the amazing culinary world of Europe for a reasonable price.
