May 27, 2025 – Vientiane, The European Union Delegation to Lao PDR, together with Australia, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, and Proud to be Us Laos, came together to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

We stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people across Laos and around the world. Everyone deserves to live with dignity, safety, and full human rights without fears and discrimination. This year’s theme, “The Power of Communities”, reminds us that real change begins with connection, courage and collective action.

The event featured short remarks from the EU, Germany, Australia, Luxembourg, France and Proud to be us Laos; recognition of outstanding contributions by LGBTQ persons, and opportunities for the LGBTQ community to network and reflect on the importance of human rights.

IDAHOBIT is not just a celebration, but also a call to action, to listen, to support, and to build spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.
