Access to Higher Education for Syrian Refugees and Lebanese Youth

05.03.2020

The aim of this project is to provide access to Higher and Vocational Education to Syrian youth and disadvantaged youth in Lebanon.

  • Budget: € 18,500,000 (€ 5,141,000 for Lebanon)
  • Location: Lebanon, Syria, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KR-I), Turkey
  • Date of project: August 2016 - August 2020
  • Implementing Partner: SPARK

Over 400,000 people (and counting) in the age-group 18-24 have fled Syria, and very few have access to higher education. Many higher education institutions in Syria ceased to function, and financial as well as regulatory barriers prevent Syrian youth from entering higher education in neighbouring countries. This project aims to tackle this acute and overwhelming need to improve access to higher education for Syrian youth. The project also supports Lebanon by improving Lebanese youth's access to higher education.
