Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon Sandra De Waele opened the 29^th edition of the European Film Festival in Lebanon on Wednesday 30 April 2025 at Metropolis Cinema (Mar Mikhael).

The opening of this year's festival marked the Lebanese premiere of Flow, a groundbreaking Latvian film directed by Gints Zilbalodis, which recently won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2025 Academy Awards. Co-produced by Belgium and France, Flow embodies a true European spirit of collaboration and innovation. The highly anticipated film will be released in Lebanese cinemas on 8 May.

Organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, in partnership with the Metropolis Cinema Association and in cooperation with the European Union Member States, the 29^th edition of the European Film Festival in Lebanon will run at Metropolis Cinema (Mar Mikhael) until 11 May 2025.
