Embracing History and Culture: EU Delegation to Lesotho and EU MS Embassies Participate in Moshoeshoe Walk 2024

The EU Delegation to Lesotho led by Ambassador Paola Amadei along with the Ambassador Sandra Kramer, Head of the EU Delegation to South Africa, the Director of the Alliance Française de Maseru, the Ambassadors of Austria and Germany to South Africa and Lesotho as #TeamEurope, recently took part in the Moshoeshoe Walk 2024 in Lesotho.

The Moshoeshoe Walk, a 116-kilometer trek, follows the path once traversed by King Moshoeshoe I and his people 200 years ago. This trail holds immense historical significance as it retraces the steps of the revered founder of the Basotho Nation.

The Moshoeshoe Walk proved to be a test of endurance, camaraderie, and physical prowess. Guided by Queen ‘Masenate of Lesotho together with hikers from neighbouring countries, #TeamEurope embraced the challenges of the hike with determination and spirit. The experience not only showcased the beauty of the landscape but also fostered a sense of unity and shared heritage among all involved.

The involvement of #TeamEurope in the Moshoeshoe Walk 2024 exemplifies a commitment to honouring traditions, fostering international cooperation, and celebrating the vibrant heritage of the Basotho nation. This collaborative effort serves as a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and shared values that unite nations across borders.

As the participants reflect on their extraordinary journey, the question arises: Are you ready to take on the challenge in 2025?

The Moshoeshoe Walk offers a unique opportunity to connect with history, nature, and fellow enthusiasts in a setting rich with cultural significance.
