How is the ReNOKA programme integrating climate and environmental concerns in Lesotho?

The ReNOKA programme in Lesotho works with local communities and local authorities to protect and conserve water resources in the country, preserve Lesotho's vast wetlands and ecosystems, reduce soil erosion and desertification and rejuvenate agricultural lands.

#TeamEurope supports an initiative of the Lesotho Government to address water security and socio-economic and environmental issues in the country, such as land degradation and climate change - issues that have plagued the Kingdom for several decades.

ReNOKA works with local communities and Local Authorities to protect and conserve water resources in the country, preserve Lesotho's vast wetlands and ecosystems, reduce soil erosion and desertification and rejuvenate agricultural lands.

The programme is also an inclusive and holistic movement protecting and conserving the natural resources of Lesotho and the Senqu-Orange River Basin as a whole. The Senqu-Orange River flows from the highlands of Lesotho - Southern Africa's water tower - into South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. What happens in the Kingdom has significant impacts for these countries of the region.

ReNOKA is supported by the European Union and the German government as #TeamEurope.
