Objectives
Overall Objective: Development of an Integrated Solid Waste Management system for Blantyre and Lilongwe to increase recycling and reduce greenhouse gasses.
Results
- Set-up a commercial composting facility in Lilongwe to produce compost for improved crop resilience and reduce GHG emissions from landfills.
- Reduce the cost of recycling of organic waste by promoting separation of waste.
- Strengthen the motivation and capacity of Blantyre & Lilongwe City Councils to enforce regulation.
- Develop a composting association and certification.
