EU Ambassador visits Lumbira CDSS

The EU Ambassador, Daniel Aristi, visited Lumbira Community Day Secondary School in Chilomoni, Blantyre, to appreciate the progress of the construction of new classroom blocks, science laboratories, ICT room, and a library, taking place under the EU funded Improving Secondary Education in Malawi (Phase II) programme. 

With a budget of EUR 55 million, ISEM II is supporting young people with more equitable opportunities to complete good-quality secondary education and develop relevant skills. This support includes the expansion and upgrading of secondary schools through infrastructure development, the provision of teaching and learning materials, teacher training, and other interventions across 12 districts: Blantyre, Nsanje, Mulanje, Chiradzulu, Zomba, Mangochi, Lilongwe, Dedza, Salima, Ntchisi, Mzimba and Rumphi.

Specifically, ISEM II is supporting the construction, rehabilitation and equipping of 40 Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSSs) and secondary schools (SS), selected by the Ministry of Education - Malawi (MoE) and the European Union (EU) across these districts.
