Objectives
Malawi M1 Road Rehabilitation:
To improve food security, access to trade and essential services through the provision of basic road infrastructure by providing a reliable and durable M1 Road integrated into the COMESA North-South Corridor and increasing traffic safety and the security of the M1 Road.
Construction of the Mozambique-Malawi Inter-connector:
To contribute to a sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction in Malawi as well as climate protection by providing access to reliable, sustainable and climate-friendly power supply.
Expected Results
Malawi M1 Road Rehabilitation:
- Chiweta-Kacheche section of 66km
- Kasungu–Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) of 102km
- Kasungu–Jenda Section of 86 km
- Jenda-Mzimba Section of 47 km
- Technical Assistance for Project Implementation and Capacity Building
Construction of the Mozambique-Malawi Inter-connector:
- Installation of approx. 76 km of 400 kV transmission line
- Extension of Phombeya substation with transmission line bays.
Implementation Status
- Malawi M1 Road Rehabilitation: The works are ongoing.
- Construction of the Mozambique-Malawi Inter-connector: The works are ongoing.
