KULIMA – ‘Promoting Farming in Malawi’ Programme

KULIMA is relevant for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It contributes primarily to the progressive achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 and 8 but also promotes progress towards goals 5, 15 and 17.

The overall objective is 'Sustainable agricultural growth promoted to increase incomes, employment and food security in Malawi in the context of a changing climate’

It has three specific objectives:

1: Agricultural productivity increased and production diversified in a participatory, sustainable and climate-change resilient manner.

2: Agricultural value chains developed or established and related income and employment opportunities created

3: Agriculture sector governance is strengthened

Kulima is implemented in 10 districts (Chitipa, Karonga, Mzimba, Nkhata-Bay, Kasungu, Nkhotakota, Salima, Chiradzulu, Mulanje, Thyolo; and Lilongwe city (for central activities).
