Malawi Commemorates World Teachers' Day

On 4 October 2019, the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Malawi joined the Government of Malawi in celebrating World Teachers’ Day. The commemoration was marked by a solidarity walk with the teachers led by the Minister of Education Hon. Dr. William Susuwele-Banda, MP to appreciate the hard work and sacrifice of teachers in Malawi. On this day, 216 teachers and head teachers were awarded for being the most outstanding in their work.
The EU, as a partner in the Education sector, recognises the challenges that teachers face, in and outside the classroom. Ambassador Sandra Paesen who participated in the walk, reiterated the EU’s commitment to supporting teachers, investing in them, and advocating for improved teacher service conditions.
We congratulate these inspiring teachers who consistently rise above circumstances and deliver quality education for a better Malawi.
