This programme is relevant for the Agenda 2030. It contributes primarily to the progressive achievement of SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), but also promotes progress towards SDG 5 (Gender equality), SDG 9 (resilient infrastructure) and SDG 13 (combat climate change).
The Overall Objective (Impact) of this action is to support the modernisation and industrialisation of the Malawian economy. The Specific Objectives (Outcomes) of this action are to:
SO1: Enhance governance of the Malawi energy sector.
SO2: Improve access to energy. 3.
SO3: Increase productive use of renewable energy in the off-grid market with higher involvement of women, youth and people with disabilities.
