SEARCH FOR LOCAL INTERPRETERS/TRANSLATORS

aed – Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the Austrian Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJ) and the Italian Interior Ministry – Public Security Department and the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro (EUD) is searching for qualified interpreters/translators from Montenegro for full-time as well as part time assignments.
The overall objective of the Action is to support the Montenegrin authorities to meet the obligations under Chapters 23 and 24 of the EU accession process and to support Montenegro in achieving concrete results in judicial reform and in the fight against corruption and organized crime.
To reach this overall objective, the Action will implement the following two specific objectives: - Specific Objective 1 Strengthening the overall efficiency and performance of the judiciary and enhance the capacities of the institutions to fight against corruption and organized crime, including producing a convincing track record on the more complex types of organized crime. Specific Objective 2 Strengthening judicial response to organized crime and corruption, through capacity building activities with a focus on certain aspects of adjudication of organized crime and corruption cases and support on case and trial management and identifying procedural bottlenecks that impede swift adjudication of cases and providing support on improving length and efficiency of court procedures.

2 2. DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Under the supervision of the Team Leader the interpreters/translators will assist the project in the translation and interpretation during daily work but also translate and proofread Montenegrin and/or English texts to be published. The working language of the project is English.
3. REQUIRED EXPERT PROFILE
• University degree in interpretation and/or translation
• A minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in interpretation/translation EnglishMontenegrin-English
• Proven knowledge of legal terminology in both languages
• Experience as interpreter/translator with international organizations and/or international projects is an advantage • Highest standards of integrity and experience in handling confidential information
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, sensitive to political environment, excellent analytical skills, pragmatic approach, strong in strategic thinking and operational planning
• Flexibility, strong adaptation skills and capability of team-work in a potentially stressful environment under tight deadlines
4. DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Availability must be ensured either for full-time or part-time engagement for the duration of 29 months and high preference will be given to candidates who are able to report to work immediately (as of February 2022). Location of work is Podgorica, Montenegro.

6. SELECTION PROCEDURE
All received applications will be reviewed and a shortlist of those candidates produced who will be invited to a personal interview with the Evaluation Committee. Following this interview, the Evaluation Committee will make the final decision on the candidate selection.
