EU - Moz Business Forum

The Mozambique - EU Business Forum on 9 - 10 June, as well as RENMOZ 2026 - the 5th edition of the Renewable Energy Business Conference that took place on 11 - 12 June, positioned Mozambique as a key market for European partners. Both events are part of EU’s Global Gateway Strategy to step up public-private cooperation on sustainable development.  Through the new agreements, EUR 178 million in investments and capacity development in key Global Gateway sectors will help:

  • Increase access to electricity (EUR 40 million)

  • Accelerate the digital transition with a focus on increasing the participation of women in the digital economy (EUR 28 million)

  • Support agricultural businesses and sustainable value chains (EUR 60 million)

  • Ensure education and skills that prepare Mozambican students for the digital and sustainable future (EUR 50 million)

Speaking at the opening of the Forum Myriam Ferran, Deputy Director-General at the Directorate General for International Partnerships, underlined the ambition of Global Gateway, stating:

‘Global Gateway is Europe's offer to the world, and very much to Mozambique. It is our way of saying: we don't just want to talk about investment; we want to crowd it in.’

She further underlined the strategic nature of the initiative:

“We bring our public finance, our guarantees, our blended instruments, our technical assistance, and we use them to de-risk the projects that the private sector can then take forward at scale”

The Forum will also enable a deepening of trade relations, new investment partnerships, and new forms of cooperation among European and Mozambican stakeholders.  The two-day Forum will provide opportunities for members of the private sector to engage through business round tables, policy dialogues, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions.
