A Sound for Myanmar was officially launched in February 2025, during an event in Brussels. The song has been composed by European artist, Lucas Vidal, in collaboration with Htet Arkar and other Myanmar musicians. It has been brought to life by a European orchestra and Myanmar traditional instruments played in Myanmar.

Initiated and funded by the European Union, this project serves as a tribute to the people of Myanmar during their ongoing crises. The composition, created with and for the people of Myanmar, reflects their musical heritage, resilience, and hopes for the future. Lucas Vidal worked closely with Htet Arkar and other traditional musicians, drawing inspiration from their experiences to craft a piece that highlights shared cultural ties, the urgent humanitarian situation, and the EU’s commitment to supporting Myanmar’s people.

The lyrics, written and sung in Myanmar language, convey the message: “Let’s create a peaceful world through singing, dancing, and playing music together!”
