Green Growth for KAZA

05.08.2025

Leveraging KAZA’s Natural Capital and Cultural Heritage for Inclusive Socio-Economic Development.

The project aims to strengthen conservation, promote sustainable economic development, and improve governance across the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA). It aligns with the EU NaturAfrica programme’s objectives, focusing on biodiversity conservation, green economy initiatives, and inclusive governance. By leveraging the region’s natural capital and cultural heritage, the project fosters long-term socio-economic benefits while ensuring ecological resilience.

The project will strengthen conservation management by developing a holistic KAZA Conservation Strategy and Action Plan, enhancing transboundary cooperation and implementing improved land use planning. The project further entails creating and scaling Bankable Nature Solutions (BNS) such as sustainable agriculture, ecotourism, renewable energy, and biodiversity-friendly enterprises. Governance and sustainable financing will be enhanced through support to the KAZA Secretariat in policy implementation, governance mechanisms, and mobilizing sustainable financing through innovative investment models.

Expected outcomes of the project include improved conservation and biodiversity protection, stronger institutional capacity and enhanced sustainable economic development and green finance.
