Leveraging, Capacitating, and Enabling Community-Led Youth and Women CSOs

04.08.2025

Civil society, community Led Initiatives, Youth Led Initiatives play an important role when it comes to ensuring that the unreached are reached and the voices of the voiceless are heard. In Namibia, Civil Society Organization (CSO) community-led initiatives and community-based organisations lack the influence and voice to have had their fair share of challenges tackled, particularly with the advent of COVID-19. This is particularly visible and evident in those working within already poverty-stricken, hard-to-reach and information-starved communities.

The project strengthens community-led initiatives and youth and women CSOs in peri-urban settlements of Namibia. It provides capacity-building, organizational development, and advocacy training to enhance civic participation in gender equality and youth inclusion. The initiative also fosters economic empowerment programs for marginalized groups. Community-led and youth-led initiatives, in particular networks and consortiums, can help the regions and pinpoint challenges and barriers with service uptake in their communities and advocate successfully for change CSOs.

Objectives are to strengthen CSOs, faith-based organisations and youth groups in peri-urban areas. Planned governance and economic empowerment initiatives will increase youth participation and enhance advocacy for gender and social inclusion. The project aims to integrate community-led actions into local and national policy dialogues to ensure that no peri-urban voice is left unheard.
