Promoting the Young Leaders Programme

12.02.2020

The European Development Days (EDD) are Europe's leading forum on international partnerships. Organized by the European Commission, the forum brings many actors together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspires new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges.

This year's edition of the EDD 2020 will take place in Brussels on 9 and 10 June 2020 and will focus on: "The Green Deal for a Sustainable Future".  Biodiversity and resilient ecosystems are crucial for human well-being as they support livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, enable access to water and health and contribute significantly to climate change mitigation and adaptation. This year's EDD will be framed around two strategic pillars: a) A Green Economy for People and Nature and b) Protecting Biodiversity and People.

Young people are the future drivers of global development and a priority for the European Commission's development strategy. They must be given a clear and active role in doing so. The EDD will include a comprehensive Youth Agenda for the forum, inviting organisations to highlight the active role that young people play in implementing today’s development agenda.

The European Commission is also inviting 17 inspiring young leaders from around the world to come and speak at the high-level panels of the forum. Young experts between the ages of 21 and 26 from diverse backgrounds and balanced gender distribution, who are active in their community and working towards a better world, will be able to share their views and projects during the forum. They will rub shoulders with key decision-makers and will have the chance to take part in activities and workshops alongside the event.

This is a unique opportunity for young people, We hope to receive many inspiring applications from young people in Namibia. Note that the selected Young Leaders will be invited by DEVCO to the EDD and all expenses will be covered.
