The mandate of the board is to advise the EU Delegation in Nigeria on Youth Participation and Empowerment, and on a broad range of topics such as Employment, Education, Training and Entrepreneurship, Environment and Climate Change, Human Rights and Democracy, Peace and Security, Digitalisation and Technology, Gender, Social Inclusion and Health, as well as Culture, Arts, Media and Journalism.

YSB creates opportunities for young people and youth organisations to express their views, connect and exchange.



Also, the Board  actively influences the policy and programmes of the EU in Nigeria, and will thereby contribute to make EU action more participatory, relevant and effective for young people in Nigeria.

Abikoye

Abimbola Abikoye is an environmental research consultant and Ocean advocate driving climate and environmental change innovation. Through her Revamp Rave Network, she has trained 1000 youths on climate change and action, built a tutor bank of 66 expert tutors across six continents, authored Ecolog and provided 25 scholarship opportunities for young climate advocates across the globe. Abimbola is a member of UNESCO-Early Career Ocean Professional and the current chairperson of the EU-YSB’s GDE committee.

 

Funmilayo Oyekanmi

Funmilayo Oyekanmi is a law graduate and an award-winning development advocate. She possesses experience working with early-stage tech-enabled African start-ups. She also has experience working on social impact projects that advance good health, social and cultural well-being. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Human and Social Sustainability Network (HSSN) Africa, a youth-led non-profit organisation committed to addressing the global challenge of poverty through strategic initiatives.

 

Abba Ali Yarima Mustapha

Abba Ali Yarima Mustapha is a highly motivated young peacebuilder currently working on security, youth engagement, dialogue support and peace building programming in the Lake Chad region. His Special focus is on the DDRRR (Demobilization, Deradicalization, Rehabilitation and Reintegration) programme and reducing the recruitment of children and young people into violent extremist groups in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria

Atabo David is a marketing, brand communication, and community engagement expert. He is the founder of Comemakewego Africa, a non-profit organisation that works to develop local communities in Africa that have the potential to become popular tourist destinations. He holds a chieftains title as the 'Aare Afe' of Ado-Awaye, Oyo state Nigeria, for his contributions to the community's tourism development, in addition to his numerous awards and recognitions in the community development space, such as Youth Tourism Ambassador.

Babajide Oluwase is an award-winning urban management professional, environmental sustainability advocate and the founder of Ecotutu, a leading cleantech company providing multichannel solar-powered cold storage solutions to businesses, particularly in the agriculture and health value chain. Since 2015, he has demonstrated extensive and relevant experience in creating environmental-focused solutions and has a track record of working with relevant stakeholders to establish cost-saving initiatives for corporate organisations and government MDAs.

Ebuka Alumona is a dynamic young professional with over four years of experience in sustainable development focusing on project design, implementation as well as monitoring and evaluation. A member of the Abuja Global Shapers Community, Ebuka serves as the Board Chairperson of the EU Youth Sounding Board (YSB) in Nigeria, showcasing his commitment to social impact and youth leadership.

Ehioba Wilfred Osayomwanbor is an energy and political analyst. He recently concluded his master’s degree program in Politics at the University of Lincoln. A member of the International Association for Energy Economies. Ehioba has a sound background in global politics, energy policies, global supply chain, and data science. In 2021, he was part of the delegation from Nigeria to participate in the New Africa France Summit in Montpellier.

His experience spans 9 years in diplomacy, climate-change and energy research and entrepreneurship. Rasheed champions ArleeGreen which is seeded by Orange Corners Nigeria; an initiative of the kingdom of Netherlands.

Segun Ogunwale is an Information Technology professional by training—with interests in the development of digital solutions for human capacity development. He currently serves as the Team Lead of Bridgia which he co-founded to champion employability, innovation, and development of talent pipelines in Africa’s higher institutions. Segun is a strong believer in Africa’s potential to become a significant player in the global knowledge economy and a talent powerhouse for the future world of work.

 

Stephen Adavize Onimisi

Stephen Adavize Onimisi is a lawyer focused on youth, gender rights, humanitarian law and human rights advocacy. An alumnus of Youth Development and Leadership Foundation (YLDF) and a participant in the 2020 Cohort of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre’s Legislative Internship Programme. As a legal practitioner, he continues to advocate and promote respect for socio-cultural rights and the environment through his work with non-governmental organisations like the GRAPE Initiative for Development and Center for Earth Works.

Sumayyah is a Climate Justice Advocate with special focus on Climate Education, Environmental Sustainability and Policy Adaptation. Her work experience spans across Advisory and Policy formulation, education for SDGs, advocacy for the inclusion of climate education in secondary school syllabuses, plastic pollution, ocean preservation and sustainability, upcycling, amongst others. She works closely with Youths, organises campaigns and training, and drives conversations on climate resilience and adaptation.

Uzoamaka Chukwuemeka is a Research Assistant with Holistique Public Health and a Project Assistant with JTF Foundation, an organisation creating awareness on the importance of good menstrual health and hygiene in Nigeria. Uzoamaka has successfully carried out health projects and advocacy campaigns on prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases such as HPV, malaria, tuberculosis, HIV and hepatitis. Also, she enlightens teenage girls on the importance of good menstrual health and hygiene.

Oyindamola Osinubi

Oyindamola Osinubi is a social entrepreneur passionate about empowering African youths with the knowledge and tools to leverage the internet for self-education, entrepreneurship, employment, environmental sustainability, and social development through her initiative, DigiShapersAfrica, and has trained over 2000 youths in this regard. She holds an Executive Mini MBA in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from FATE Foundation and Road to Growth, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.

Precious Uchechi Eze is a lawyer with keen interest in Public International Law. She has gathered 3 years’ progressive work experience in the public and private sector in organisations like the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Justice, Oando and the Pan African Young Diplomat Forum. Keen on utilising International Law as a tool for global development, she now undertakes an Erasmus Mundus Masters in “International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development”.

Somtochukwu Nnamdi Ugwu is a lawyer from Enugu State, Nigeria. Somtochukwu is passionate about promoting youth and women empowerment in Nigeria and globally. He currently serves as a Program Officer with Society for the Improvement of Rural People (SIRP), an NGO based in Enugu State, Nigeria. He is also the Communication’s Officer of Men Engage Nigeria, a coalition of women’s rights organisations committed to increasing men and boys’ involvement in promoting issues concerning gender equality and women empowerment.

Taoheed is the publisher and founder of TrackGBV Nigeria — a recently founded initiative that focuses on exclusive tracking and reporting of cases of violence and advocacy on conflict resolutions in Nigeria.
