Boredom turned into art: an exhibition inspired by the isolation in times of pandemic
Boredom is explored as an occasion to contemplate, introspect and re-examine and as an opportunity to overcome frustration through creation.
Artworks by Petar Hadji Boshkov, Margarita Kiselichka, Sasho Sazdovski, Goce Nanevski, Monika Moteska, Filip Velkovski, Jasmina Glavinche, Igor Tanevski, David Atanasovski, Antonio Pirkoski and Aleksandar Eftimovski are part of the exhibition ‘The Art of Boredom’, which was opened in the garden of the EU residence in Skopje on 19 March.
With the help of Acanthus Gallery and Studio Virtu, the EU Delegation brought together works by local artists from various generations – from leaders of contemporary art with proven mastery, renowned
artists from the middle generation, to young artists schooled through the prism of the art of today. They represent different responses to the theme of boredom while making a selection of quality artworks.
‘This is intended to be a playful take on creativity in times of the pandemic. This is also a way to support local artists and cultural workers, something that during the pandemic is more important than ever’, said Ambassador Geer, opening the exhibition in the presence of the President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski and Minister of Culture Irena Stefoska.
