Europe Day 2022: Young people ‘take over’ government to present ideas on better regional cooperation, better health and greener future

On 12 May, young activists, accompanied by Young European Ambassadors from North Macedonia, symbolically ‘took over’ the ceremonial hall of the government - to present to PM Dimitar Kovachevski and ministers the conclusions of the conference #ThinkForward: YOUth ACTion NOW!, which took place in the previous days in Skopje with the participation of 30 young activists from all over the Western Balkans.

The message passed by young people is that their generation is one that offers solutions and does not merely complain. In the presence of Ambassador David Geer, young rapporteurs Blendi Hodai, Mimoza Serafimovska and Marija Burgieva tabled specific proposals on how to boost regional cooperation and reconciliation, on how to address mental health issues (that emerged especially during the pandemic) and on how to address climate change and further promote the European Green Deal. The proposals were then discussed with the Prime Minister, ministers and other government representatives.

In the European Year of Youth, the conference emphasised the active role of the youth in building better societies and a better future - together.
