We, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Members of the UNRWA Advisory Commission, reiterate our support to UNRWA and strongly condemn the unlawful entry into UNRWA’s Kalandia Training Centre and the seizure of UNRWA installations in East Jerusalem on 25 August.
United Nations premises are protected by the Convention on privileges and immunities under international law and must be respected. We call for immediate and full compliance with the UN obligations allowing UNRWA to carry out its mandated activities without interference.
We therefore call upon the State of Israel, to honour its obligations and to halt all disruptions to UNRWA’s activities and operations without delay.
