The European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP) is open to applicants from PNG

The European Union Visitors Program (EUVP) invites young, promising leaders from countries outside the European Union to visit the European Parliament and other EU institutions in Brussels/Belgium  to gain a first-hand understanding of the EU, its functioning, values, principles.   An EUVP visit consists of an individual 5- to 8-day program of meetings with EU officials at the EU institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg.

For 2025 the EU Delegation to PNG will select 2 candidates (1 main candidate and 1 reserve), travel and per diem costs are covered by the European Union.

The EUVP is not open for students. Candidates are required to have completed their university education or equivalent training and to have already gained some years of professional experience.

The EUVP is specifically designed for young/future leaders preferably between 25-35 age group. Eligible participants fall under one of the following categories: 

  • Aspiring leaders, young politicians, and early career government officials  
  • Media, in particular those exercising an editorial function in areas of special relevance to the EU (e.g. as foreign affairs editor, political correspondent of national newspapers, radio or TV current affairs producer/presenter, etc.).
  • Civil society actors, such as human rights activists, women’s rights defenders, environmentalists.
  • Academics/Think-tanks, in particular those responsible for teaching and researching in the fields of EU and/or international affairs.

Application process:  Please submit by e-mail a “Statement of Purpose” (detailing your current professional responsibilities and the intended themes of your study tour to Brussels) along with a short CV no later than 15 March 2024 to DELEGATION-PAPUA-NEW-GUINEA-INTERNSHIP@eeas.europa.eu with following subject line: "Application for EUVP 2025".

Selected candidates will be subsequently required to provide more detailed information. The candidates who have not been selected will not be contacted individually;
