The PNG Europe Business Council Inc (Council) deplores Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine and fully supports the concerted economic and other measures being taken by the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, Papua New Guinea and various other countries in response to Russian aggression.

As a fledgling democracy, Ukraine is deserving of the highest level of support from all democratically minded peoples in countering Russia’s invasion.

History tells us that failure to stand up to an aggressor only encourages more aggression. Appeasement is not a long-term solution.

The Council extends its deepest sympathies to the families of those Ukrainians killed by Russia’s  armed forces and to those Ukrainians displaced or made homeless in the current conflict.
