The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to Peru represents the EU vis-à-vis the government of Peru and the General Secretariat of the Andean Community. Its mandate includes political, economic, trade and cooperation relations with respective authorities, while maintaining regular contacts with civil society and the private sector.

We offer a post of Press and Information Assistant. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Press and Information Assistant – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation.
Under this job function, the successful candidate will serve under the supervision and responsibility of the Political, Press and Information head of section and perform the following tasks:
- In close cooperation with the Press and Information Officer (PIO) and under the supervision of HoS PPI and HoD, contribute to the development of the Delegation's communication strategy and to the yearly planning of activities;
- Organize and execute the events planned in coordination with Press Officer,
- Create and implement digital communication plans to promote events;
- Support the Press Officer in managing the team’s budget;
- Support coordination of Cultural, Public diplomacy and Cooperation activities carried out by the EU Delegation such as European Film Festival, Road Shows, Cooperation events, etc.
- Promote internal and external communications: sharing internally information on the benefits and impact of our digital communications via the intranet and other internal channels; share communication products and best practices with HQ; lead digital campaigns with international cooperation and other institutions in Peru etc;
- Website management and content creation: contribute to the creation of content strategy, helping to identify the most compelling ‘stories’ and produce digital content to promote our work; as well as ensuring that both the English and the Spanish versions of the website are up-to-date.
- Contact database management (Press, Erasmus, Circular Economy, Public Diplomacy contacts, Cooperation events, etc), as well as WhatsApp Groups management (Erasmus, Circular Economy, European Film Festival. etc)
- Manage the EU Delegation´s social media Platforms such as Facebook, Twitters ( 2 accounts), YouTube, Flickr, LinkedIn (account to be created) and Instagram, ensuring that the content remains informative and accurate, as well as engaging,
- Coordinate and execute social media campaigns with digital service providers; ensure digital coverage of events, including cross posting, zoom meetings and streaming; report and analyse results of social media campaign;
- Keep abreast of the latest innovations in digital communications and make suggestions for new ways of promoting work and messages online;
- Manage the EU Delegation multimedia resources: collect case studies, photos and videos from EU projects; including the creation and editing of videos.
- Monitor news, draft press releases, press reports and press clippings for the Delegation and Headquarters.
- Monitor and ensure compliance of projects with EU visibility guidelines;
- Contribute to reporting (annual, thematic and campaign reports);
- Assist the Head of Delegation / Head of Section in other key tasks as required.

Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
- Medically fit to perform the required duties,
- Civil rights and permits for employment in Peru,
- Excellent command of Spanish (both oral and written),
- Excellent command of English (both oral and written).
- Higher-level vocational studies in a relevant field (journalism, social media, organisation of public events, communication, marketing and digital marketing, international relations)
- Proven experience of at least 3 years in similar tasks.
The following will be considered as an asset:
- University education and/or further training attested by a diploma and directly related to the nature of the duties,
- Previous experience in a diplomatic mission,
- Knowledge of French,
- Working knowledge of another EU official language.
Professional and personal skills:
- Ability to organise and to manage multiple demands,
- Ability to carry out tasks flawlessly, even when working under pressure, and to respond quickly to new demands,
- Capacity to work in a multicultural team, showing good interpersonal skills,
- High degree of confidentiality and responsibility when dealing with EU-related information;
- Solid communication skills, and thorough knowledge of communication techniques (including electronic publishing), basic knowledge of archiving methods,
- Microsoft Office, high level of computer literacy; management of design software; video editing.
The procedure
After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided by applicants. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which may include an interview and/or a practical examination. During this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post. The candidates who have not been short-listed/selected will be informed once the recruitment procedure has been completed.
