This is how we celebrated Europe Month in Peru

After two years of virtual activities, Europe Month 2022 marked the return to face-to-face gathering such as cultural events, seminars and business meetings. Member States also participated to the cultural agenda with their own activities.

This year we put an emphasis on the situation in Ukraine with a special mention in the speech of the Head of Delegation during the Europe Day cocktail and in the opening remarks of several events that took place in May.

On 9 May, Ambassador Gaspar Frontini gave a midday reception at the Contemporary Art Museum of Lima with numerous participants including government representatives, Member States as well as business and civil society representatives.

Before the reception, the HoD inaugurated a mural called “Lights for Peace” dedicated to Ukraine in the presence of Ukraine’s Charge d’affaires and EU Member States ambassadors. On Europe Day, we paid tribute to peace as a universal value through the vision of Peruvian artist, Josué Sánchez.

Solidarity, peace and hope have been at the heart of the European project since its origins.

Special thanks to Josué Sánchez for his incredible mural “Lights for Peace”, to Museo MAC Lima and to the Friends who joined us in such an important day for the European Union.

We also thank our Member States and the cultural centres that enriched the Europe Month’s calendar with cultural events, opera and shows, piano concerts and book presentations.
