Cine Europa 28, the longest running festival in the country, opens on 8 September
“The Peasants” is a visually stunning and emotionally charged masterpiece depicting a young woman’s struggle for independence in a 19th-century Polish village. Directed and written by DK and Hugh Welchman, it is an adaptation of Wladyslaw Reymont’s novel of “The Peasants”. It was produced using the painted animation technique. The public is invited to watch “The Peasants” and enter Cinema 3 by 5:15pm. Admission is free.
Cine Europa 28 will be inaugurated by EU Ambassador Massimo Santoro and Ms. Joy Polloso, of Shangri-La Plaza. “Cine Europa is not just about watching films, it is about sharing experiences, values, and cultures between European Union and the Philippines,” said EU Ambassador Massimo Santoro. “We are pleased to invite everyone to watch the 17 carefully-curated and excellent films from the EU”.
Cine Europa continues its tradition of bringing the best of European cinema to Filipino audiences. It is presented by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines together with the EU Member States Embassies in Manila, and guest, the Embassy of Ukraine. The film festival showcases award-winning films that reflect Europe’s creativity and storytelling excellence. The films have been carefully handpicked to resonate with the Filipino audiences. The Manila screenings will run in the Shangri-la Plaza,Mandaluyong City from 8 to 17 September 2025. Special screenings will also be held in Cebu, Tacloban and Bacolodensuring wider audience reach across the country.
