EU releases €1.5 million in response to the impact of tropical cyclone Trami in the Philippines

In response to the impact of tropical cyclone Trami in the Philippines (locally known as Kristine), the EU has approved €1.5 million in humanitarian aid to help the most the affected populations. This funding will help provide assistance in the hardest-hit-areas (such as Bicol and Calabarzon), notably to people who have lost their homes and remain displaced.

Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, said: “I am sad to see that only a few days after my visit to Manila, the Philippines was, once more this year, severely struck by a disaster. As I reiterated during my stay, the EU stands ready to help populations that are on the frontline of climate-related disasters”.
