The Gender country profile 2021 for the Philippines has been drafted by the University of the Philippines Center for Women’s and Gender Studies. The profile puts emphasis on the areas of engagement of the EU Action Plan on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in External Action 2021-2025 (GAP III). Based on wide consultations, it covers a review of the legislative and policy framework in the Philippines—including regional and international commitments -, an overview of the socio-economic, cultural, political, and demographic context, and highlights how the COVID-19 pandemic has further heightened already existing inequalities.
