EU Ambassador Ederer exchanges on Russia’s war against Ukraine with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko
On 21 June, EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer held a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko to exchange on Russia’s war against Ukraine. Ambassador Ederer made clear the EU position that this war grossly violates international law and international humanitarian law. All Russian troops needed to be withdrawn and those responsible for war crimes be held accountable in accordance with international law. The sides touched upon the suspended talks between Russia and Ukraine and strongly disagreed on Russia’s policy in Russian controlled territories of Ukraine, including on issuing Russian passports to local residents. The sides also exchanged on the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
