On December, 6 from 12:30 to 15:10 CET, an online roundtable discussion dedicated to the “Routledge Handbook of EU-Russia Relations” will be held. The event is organized jointly by the EU-Russia Expert Network (EUREN) and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). Participation is open to everyone and the event will be livestreamed online.

Through 40 chapters, the Handbook sheds light on the multifaceted relations between Moscow and Brussels, covering a wide array of topics such as energy, security policy and regional relations. Tatiana Romanova and Maxine David, the editors of the Handbook, as well as many of the prominent contributing authors from Russia and various European countries are members of the EU-Russia Expert Network (EUREN).

The upcoming roundtable titled “Engaging Policy Makers with the Academia” will focus on the link between academic research and foreign policy practice, and examine how the newly released Handbook can help to shape EU-Russia relations. Authors of selected chapters of the Handbook will discuss among others how academic input can facilitate dialogue and cooperation between Russia and the EU, and how exchange between academics and policy makers can be fostered.

EUREN was initiated by the Delegation of the European Union to the Russian Federation and the Russian International Affairs Council in 2017. It is a platform for dialogue between foreign policy experts and think tanks from EU member states and Russia. They exchange views on relevant issues and formulate policy recommendations to be presented to decision-makers of both the EU and Russia.
