New programme to enable European Business Chamber Rwanda (EBCR) to support Rwanda’s entrepreneurial scene

The programme will also ensure EBCR is well connected to stakeholders, and is recognised as a valued partner in improving the business climate in Rwanda. Additionally, through this programme, the EBCR will contribute to an improved business climate in Rwanda and seeks to do this by building strong relationships and dialogue with government stakeholders.
DDG Ferran said at the signing of the contract, “It is my hope that EU support will continue to help EBCR through their growth journey, in order for the Chamber to be able to continue expanding their services and continue to assist European entrepreneurs and investors to Rwanda. We also wish to see EBCR contributing to an improved business climate in Rwanda, becoming a partner of reference for Government to represent European interests in policy dialogue with government stakeholders.”
The President of the EBCR Giovanni Davite said; “We welcome this new programme and we continue to work to deliver on advocacy for European businesses and investments in Rwanda and contribute to making Rwanda an attractive business destination.”
Around 200 European companies are known to operate in Rwanda. Over the last five years, the Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda and EU embassies in Kigali took steps to stimulate the development of the EU business association in Rwanda, including hosting of regular business mixers.
In February 2020, these activities and the EU support led a small group of European companies to establish officially the EBCR.
Since its inception, EBCR has grown to have more than 100 members, including companies, development partners, individuals and 13 European Embassies covering the Rwandan territory.
