Call for Proposals: AU–EU Youth Action Lab

15.12.2025

The AU-EU Youth Action Lab provides the opportunity for youth initiatives in Africa and Europe to submit proposals to apply for funding to implement your own ideas and solutions linked to global challenges!

General Call for Proposals

The ambition is to support how young people link up across and between the African and European continents. To link youth initiatives to their peers to share, learn and collaborate, and to bring your voices and solutions to policy-makers at different levels, including the European Union and African Union!

This coming year, the Youth Action Lab will be launching another call for proposal campaign, inviting youth in their diversity to apply. Eligible countries are Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia (Somaliland Region), Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe and countries part of the European Union.

The Youth Action Lab has 4 different grant types – each with a different focus, but all with a similar ambition: as youth initiative you are supported in a powershifting way!

Innovation Grants – Deadline 7th January https://aueuyouth.com/innovation-grants/

The Innovation Grants provide grants opportunities between 30,000 and 40,000 EURO for which individual youth organisations can apply to.

Innovation is defined as designing, testing, scaling or improving a new or existing activity for young people in their own context with long-term impact. In other words, an impact that will benefit your community and your peers also after your grant project ends!

Entrepreneurship Grants – Deadline 7th January - https://aueuyouth.com/entrepreneurship-grants/

The Entrepreneurship Grants provide grants opportunities for 30,000 EURO for which individual youth organisations and consortiums of youth organisations can apply to.

What do we mean with supporting economic opportunities of young people?

The entrepreneurship grants focus on youth-led actions that address a three-fold selection of key challenges young people face around the world in their economic participation and taking control of their own future:

  1. Access to skills development opportunities that are according to the needs of young people and local economic realities and support the start-up of new youth-led enterprises.
  2. The responsible growth of youth-led (social) enterprises that consider social and environmental boundaries.
  3. An enabling environment for young entrepreneurs to start and grow their business

Cooperation Grants – Deadline 12 February - https://aueuyouth.com/cooperation-grants/

The Cooperation Grants support the joint advocacy work of youth organisations. By advocacy, it is meant speaking up for a cause, hold power to account, and/or to create change. The proposed initiative can take many forms and include a wide range of activities. There is no fixed formula: you are free to design activities in the way that best fits your project, as long as you show clearly how they contribute to meaningful policy and advocacy impact.

For Cooperation grants only applications as a consortium of two to four organisations are accepted: including one established in one of the 12 eligible African countries and one established in the European Union.
