Overall purpose

To advise on and manage, under the supervision of the Team Leader, the implementation of development assistance projects and programs. Assess sector policies and participate in policy dialogues. Backup of team leader and other team members as required. Contribute to EU external relations and development priorities: A Stronger Europe, Global Gateway, Flagships and Team Europe Initiatives. Main policy areas: environmental protection and climate change, agro-forestry and local development approaches.

The EU Delegation in Sierra Leone is a mid-size Delegation with a large cooperation portfolio in relation to the size of the country. We are looking for a highly motivated colleague who enjoys new challenges and working in a dynamic team, to join a team of five project officers, managed by the team leader for Rural Development and Infrastructure under the guidance of the Head of Cooperation.

Sierra Leone offers a comparatively safe and stable environment to live in, with a population that has shown remarkable resilience during past crises and is welcoming to foreigners. While modifications of the distribution of responsibilities in the team may occur, the portfolio of the Programme Manager is foreseen to include environmental protection and climate change, agro-forestry and local development approaches. Working in clusters with other teams and support to the Political Section may be also required upon request.
