Call for Entries: 2026 EU Photo Competition (#EU4SOM)
THEME: “Your story, your lens”
Capture What EU partnership means to your community.
WHO CAN ENTER:
Open to all Somali nationals and residents aged 16 and over. Participants under 16 must have parental or guardian consent.
HOW TO SUBMIT:
Participants may submit one (1) photograph that reflects the theme (e.g. a rebuilt school, a health clinic, or a local business supported through EU partnership).
Send entries by email to delegation-somalia-ppi@eeas.europa.eu with subject line: 2026 EU Photo Competition (#EU4SOM).
Each submission must include the participant’s full name, age, email address, telephone number, place of residence, and a short caption describing the photo (context, location, and date taken)
DEADLINE:
28 April 2026 at 17:00 (EAT). Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
REQUIREMENTS:
JPEG format, maximum 10 MB. Original, unpublished photo taken within the last 24 months. Only basic adjustments allowed (no manipulation). Consent required for identifiable individuals. No offensive content or infringement of third-party rights.
SELECTION PROCESS:
An independent jury of four will shortlist (10) photos based on visual quality and creativity (25%), relevance to the theme (25%), authenticity and storytelling (25%), and inspirational value (25%).
Shortlisted photos will be published on the EU Delegation’s Facebook page on 3 May 2026 for public voting until 8 May 2026.
Three winners will be selected as follows: two winners selected by the jury and one winner selected through public voting (based on Facebook likes).
PRIZES:
Winners will be invited to the Europe Day celebrations in Mogadishu on 10 May 2026, receive certificates and photography-related prizes, and have their work featured on EU Delegation social media throughout 2026.
COPYRIGHT:
Participants retain ownership of their photos. By submitting an entry, participants grant the EU Delegation a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the images for communication and visibility purposes, with appropriate credit.
ACCEPTANCE OF CONDITIONS:
Participation in the competition implies acceptance of these rules.
