EU and South Africa advance green economic cooperation
The cooperation focuses on three core pillars to drive the green transition:
- Flagship Projects: Materialising trade and investment in South Africa's electricity grid expansion, renewable energy, and green hydrogen
- Business Environment: Enhancing transparency and predictability through regulatory updates for industry stakeholders
- Regulatory Alignment: Deepening cooperation on climate and energy standards
As South Africa’s largest investment partner, the EU will support South Africa in building 14,500 km of new power lines over the next decade. The CTIP acts as a powerful external instrument of the Clean Industrial Deal, proving that climate action and economic competitiveness go hand in hand.
