NOTICE OF SALE – FORMER EU RESIDENCE IN PRETORIA

Purpose and scope
The European Union represented by the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of South Africa (the Seller) is selling its former residence and is launching a call for Offers to Purchase from individuals or entities interested in buying this very well located property with an existing house at 249 Aquila Street, Waterkloof Ridge, Pretoria, South Africa.

The property
The property is situated at a prime location and consists of 4009 m² of land  and a house of 850 m² :  4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 garages, a cellar, an entrance hall, a guest cloakroom, a kitchen & side kitchen plus laundry room, a large living room and family room with wooden floors, a pantry, scullery, a storeroom, study, an undercover braai area, several terraces, two full metal gates, borehole, pool, guard house and domestic quarters. The existing buildings are in need of total renovation but due to its excellent location it is also possible to use the property for a new development project.

Site visits
The property can be visited during working days (Tuesday to Thursday between 9:30 and 13:00)  upon confirmation of appointment by the Delegation. The email address to request an appointment is

Visitors limited to 2 per company,  must present their ID card and provide their contact details for security reasons.

Submission of offers
The "Offer to Purchase" must be duly signed and dated by the individual and/or the entity. It must be perfectly legible to avoid any misunderstanding on text or figures. Submission can be done as follows:

  • Either by courier service, posted no later than 30 November 2022, as evidenced by the postmark or the date on the delivery receipt received to the address stated below.
  • Or delivered by hand to the address stated below by 30 November 2022 16:00 at the latest. Delivery by hand will be confirmed by a dated and signed receipt provided by an authorised agent from the EU Delegation.

Offers must be submitted in duplicate and should be inserted in a double envelope. Both envelopes should be properly sealed with adhesive tape and carry the prospective purchaser's signature written across the tape. The outer envelope should be addressed as follows:

    NOT TO BE OPENED

This should be marked on the inner envelope too.

Sale conditions
All costs related to the sale's transaction shall be borne by the buyer.
The offer to purchase must be valid for 6 months from the closing date of submission of the offers.
Following the completion of the offers to purchase, the European Union Delegation will at its sole discretion award the sale to the highest offer received. The European Union Delegation reserves the right to not award or to withdraw the sale at any time.
