2023 Korea-EU Cartoon Contest Begins: A Spotlight on Climate Change
The contest encourages citizens to share their perspectives on the challenges of climate change through art and in support of the cooperation between the EU and the RoK in addressing climate change. To achieve this, the contest will connect and promote artists from these regions and raise awareness on the importance of facilitating dialogues on this critical topic, which impact humans worldwide, regardless of borders.
Participation in the contest is free of charge and open to all comic enthusiasts and creative individuals, from amateurs to professional illustrators, comic cartoonists and webtoon designers, as long as they are over the age of 18 and either from or based in the Republic of Korea.
Participants are invited to create a cartoon or a webtoon with the theme: “How engaged citizens and governmental bodies in South Korea can work together to combat climate changes” The application process will be online: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/KEN.
The awards will be presented to the three most outstanding cartoons during this year’s Korea-EU Civil Society Forum, which will be organised by KEN in December 2023 in Seoul with the support of the Delegation of the EU to the RoK. The first prize will be a monetary reward of 1,000 EUR. Furthermore, the artwork of all three finalists will be promoted on the official social media platforms of KEN and the Delegation of the EU to the RoK, as well as the artists and influencers who are supporting this contest. Participants will also receive a digital certificate, delivered by a climate change influencer, to confirm and celebrate their participation in the Korea-EU Cartoon Contest 2023.

EU Delegation to ROK
Background:
The Korea-EU CSO Network (KEN) is a network funded by the European Union and established for civil society organisations from both regions to communicate and interact on topics of common concern. Civil society organisations in both regions with different political, economic, social, and histories can share their experiences and successes through this network and seek a better solution to their social and civic agenda. The network promotes various workshops and conferences for civic groups from both regions to participate in, over the 2022-2023 period.
