European Commission Vice-President Šefčovič visits Switzerland on 15 and 16 March 2023

European Commission Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, responsible for the EU's relations with Switzerland, visited Fribourg and Bern on 15 and 16 March 2023. This was his first visit to Switzerland since he began leading the Commission's work on relations between the EU and the Swiss Confederation.

At the invitation of the University of Fribourg, Vice-President Šefčovič gave a speech on relations between the EU and Switzerland on 15 March, as part of the University's 47th European Days. He then met his counterpart, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis, for a working dinner in Bern.

On 16 March, Vice-President Šefčovič held discussions with members of the foreign policy committees of both chambers of the Swiss Parliament, representatives of the Conference of Cantonal Governments as well as with the Swiss social partners.
