PUTTING SYRIANS ON THE BIG SCREEN
PUTTING SYRIANS ON THE BIG SCREEN: As part of the communications campaign on the Syrian crisis, three short films by Syria-born filmmakers exploring the consequences of eight years of conflict, premiered at Cinema Palace, in Brussels, on October 16 in an event open to the general public.
The movies were co-funded by the European Union and Germany on the initiative of StratCom's Task Force South, who oversaw the whole project together with FPI and MD MENA. The movies were also screened at the School of Communication and Journalism in Brussels and at KU Leuven.
The three screenings were followed by a discussion with the directors and protagonists. The movies are the result of a year’s work, but their journey has just started. They are now available on YouTube, they will be submitted to festivals and will be available for universities and student associations to organise debates around Syria.
