On his second day in Sivas, Ambassador Berger pays a courtesy visit to the District Governor of Divrigi Mr. Muhammet Öztabak.

The Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Christian Berger today visited Divriği Great Mosque; one of the most important sites in Sivas and the first place in Turkey entered into the UNESCO World Heritage List. He and the accompanying delegation listened to “Selah” from the fascinating voice of the Mosque’s imam Mr. Nail Ayan.

After visiting the Great Mosque, Ambassador Berger visits the EU-Turkey co-funded Sivas Business Development Centre (ISGEM) funded under the Competitive Sectors Program with an EU contribution of 6 Million Euro. The project contributed to the Socio-Economic development of Sivas and increased competitiveness of the provincial economy through a more competitive business environment.

Ambassador Berger's visit to Sivas ends with a spectacular show of the famous Fire of Anatolia performing on the occasion of the 100th Year.

On the occassion of the event Ambassador Berger said: It’s an honour for me to be in Sivas on such a special occasion. It’s the first time I visit Sivas and I am impressed with the many attractions Sivas offers with its wealthy historical features and its beautiful nature. I thank governor Ayhan for inviting me to Sivas, I thank President Eken and our EU Information Centre for organising this event tonight."
