Ambassador Hans Brattskar, President of the Mine Ban Convention & Permanent Representative of Norway to the UN in Geneva, Juan Carlos Ruan Director of the ISU, and Thea Mjelstad, Advisor from the Norwegian mission in Geneva visited the Head of EU Delegation Ambassador Christian Berger. 



The purpose of the visit was to raise awareness about the mine ban convention with a particular focus on protection on civilians, and also mine risk education. 



The delegation also aims to raise in new use of land mines, the unfortunate rise in victims, and how to speed up the efficiency of clearance; the visitors were briefed about the extensive support the EU provides in Turkey to mine clearance operations and the close cooperation with TURMAC.
