The Closing Event of “Grant Scheme for Grassroots Civil Society Organisations”

The Closing Event of “Grant Scheme for Grassroots Civil Society Organisations” co-funded by the EU and Turkey with a budget of  € 2.1 million was marked by colourful scenes. Beneficiaries of grants such as the association for fighting addiction  “Ayık Yaşamda Buluşalım Derneği” shared their achievements with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger. 

The Grant Scheme for Grassroots CSOs aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity, supporting lobbying and advocacy activities and improving the communication skills of civil society organisations.  38 projects from various sectors in 15 different provinces of Turkey were supported under the grant scheme. And 272 different civil society organisations have taken part within the scope of the grant scheme with a total of 30.736 final beneficiaries.

The Head of EU Delegation Ambassador Christian Berger emphasized the importance of lessons learned from the implementation of the Grant Scheme for Grassroots CSOs for upcoming civil society support.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and Director for EU Affairs, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı assessed Turkey’s EU membership process with an online survey at the Closing Event of Grant Scheme for Grassroots CSOs.
